This training is invaluable for any foster or adoptive parent because, at the heart and soul of it, all placements are transcultural. Discover the truth about what culture really entails and how it can affect foster and adopted childre, as well as the whole family. We will discuss creating healthy identity, honoring differences and strengthening family connections. Also included are skills and techniques to address the unique challenges that arise in a transracial family. The discuss will be enhanced by the added knowledge and experience of an adult adopteee and former youth in care who will share her experience in a transcultural-transracial family.
Troy Moldenhauer is the Associate Director of Admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Troy has a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University and a Bachelor's of Science in Education Degree in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Troy has authored over 20 publications and has presented throughou the US on student success models, parent partnerships, embracing diversit and much more. Troy and his wife, Lori, have adopted five amazing children.
